From Shipley in West Yorkshire comes Least We Got Shoes, a band that’s as real as it gets. Wayne Frear, the band’s founder, lyricist, and frontman, is a straightforward guy from Shipley. His approach to music reflects his life’s experiences – raw and unfiltered. During the lockdown, Wayne’s home transformed into a creative hub where, armed with his guitar and a lifetime of stories, he wrote songs that take a page out of Johnny Cash’s book for his unapologetic musing on the absurdity of life and death.

Ben Martin, known as B.D., joined Wayne after a connection at Prospect Studios. Picking up the guitar relatively late at 18, Ben’s style brings a depth influenced by his upbringing, similar to the soulful blues of Eric Clapton, but with a working-class twist.

Andy Parkinson, the bassist and another native of Shipley, transitioned from a trade mechanic to running two local music venues under one roof. His journey mirrors the self-made ethos of artists like Bruce Springsteen, blending a passion for music with a hands-on approach to life.

Johnny C, the drummer, brings a diverse background to the band. From a Catholic family near Doncaster, his eclectic musical exposure and colorful life, including an adventurous trip to the Himalayas, add a unique flair to the band’s rhythm section, reminiscent of the versatile styles of bands like The Clash.

Coming together, the band members’ diverse backgrounds and experiences melded to create their debut album. It’s a product of their shared journey, capturing the spirit of railway hobos, the resilience of cowboys, and the audacious charm of Vegas drifters.
