Kelsey Dower is a symphonic metal composer whose music merges orchestral grandeur with metal’s intensity, creating cinematic, emotionally charged soundscapes. A lifelong musician, she began piano at 18 months and has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall. Her debut single, “Ma’afa,” blends African rhythmic identity with experimental textures, earning international recognition. With her upcoming album Rebirth, Kelsey channels personal and collective trauma into transformative, cathartic compositions. An autistic woman of color, she draws on her experiences to shape music that explores identity, resilience, and emotional honesty without centering her biography. Influenced by Nightwish, Epica, Evanescence, and Nobuo Uematsu, she composes, arranges, and produces her work in full. Beyond music, Kelsey advocates for neurodivergent and underrepresented artists through the NAACP, Autism in Entertainment, and Jazz Hands for Autism, while also pursuing advanced studies in music supervision and training in martial arts.
Kelsey Dower is a symphonic metal composer and vocalist who blends orchestral grandeur with the intensity of metal, creating emotionally immersive, cinematic music. A lifelong musician, she began playing piano at just 18 months old and has since performed at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall and as an opener for Clay Aiken at age ten.
Her debut single, “Ma’afa,” explores the trauma and resilience of the African diaspora, blending African rhythmic identity with experimental, modern textures. The track received international attention and airplay, with critics praising its fusion of historical consciousness and emotional depth. Her latest single, “Rage,” is the lead release from her upcoming album Rebirth, a work that channels personal and collective transformation, using anger and unrest as catalysts for insight and catharsis.
Influenced by artists like Nightwish, Epica, Evanescence, and composer Nobuo Uematsu, Kelsey composes, arranges, and produces her music entirely herself, combining technical mastery with narrative storytelling. As an autistic woman of color, her perspective informs her artistry, though she lets the music speak first.
Beyond performance, Kelsey advocates for neurodivergent and underrepresented artists through the NAACP, Autism in Entertainment, and Jazz Hands for Autism. She holds a BM in Commercial Music from UNLV and is pursuing a Master of Music in Entertainment Industry Management at CSUN. She also trains in martial arts, bringing discipline and focus into all areas of her life.

Kelsey Dower is a symphonic metal composer, arranger, producer, and vocalist whose music fuses the sweeping power of orchestral composition with the intensity and emotional depth of metal. Her sound is cinematic, immersive, and meticulously crafted, balancing epic scale with intimate emotional resonance. From the opening notes of her debut releases to her latest work, Kelsey creates music that feels both vast and personal, channeling human emotion into orchestrated soundscapes that resonate deeply with listeners.
A lifelong musician, Kelsey began playing piano at just 18 months old, demonstrating early mastery and passion for music that would shape her future career. By age ten, she was opening for Clay Aiken, performing in front of large audiences, and learning firsthand the discipline and poise required for professional performance. Her training and experience have only grown since, including performances at Carnegie Hall and other notable stages, establishing her as a performer of rare technical skill and emotional presence.
Kelsey’s debut single, “Ma’afa,” exemplifies her ability to merge historical storytelling with musical experimentation. The track explores the trauma and resilience of the African diaspora, blending African rhythmic identity with modern experimental textures, earning international recognition and airplay on platforms such as Radio-TV Arthis Brussels and Rocker Radio. Program directors praised it as “truly exceptional—a rare piece that fuses sound, emotion, and historical consciousness into something timeless.”
Her latest single, “Rage,” leads into her upcoming album Rebirth, signaling a new chapter in her artistry. The track channels anger and unrest into a clarifying, cathartic force, transforming emotion into insight rather than destruction. With towering choirs, widescreen orchestration, and harp-guided motifs, the song demonstrates Kelsey’s mastery of scale and narrative through music. Her vocals—full-chested, poised, and expressive—navigate intimate passages and epic climaxes alike, evoking comparisons to early 2000s alternative metal while remaining distinctly her own. Rebirth promises to explore transformation, resilience, and healing, turning personal and collective experiences into a sonic journey of renewal.
Influenced by Nightwish, Epica, Evanescence, Within Temptation, and composer Nobuo Uematsu, Kelsey approaches each composition with both technical expertise and a storytelling sensibility. She arranges and constructs her music in its entirety, from orchestral layers to vocal phrasing, ensuring every detail reflects her vision. Her work is informed by her lived experience as an autistic woman of color, though she centers the emotional and musical narrative rather than her biography, allowing the music itself to guide the listener through universal themes of identity, struggle, and catharsis.
Beyond her artistry, Kelsey is deeply engaged in advocacy and representation. She is a member of the NAACP, participating in discussions on economic justice and equity for neurodivergent individuals, and works with Autism in Entertainment to increase visibility for neurodivergent artists. Through Jazz Hands for Autism, she uses music to connect with neurodivergent communities, leveraging her skills to create spaces for expression and empowerment.
Kelsey holds a BM in Commercial Music from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and has been accepted into the Master of Music in Entertainment Industry Management program at California State University, focusing on music supervision. Her academic pursuits complement her creative work, giving her insight into the systems that shape the music industry while maintaining a focus on artistry. Outside of music, she trains in martial arts, including Krav Maga and Tae Kwon Do, integrating discipline, focus, and physicality into her approach to both performance and life.
Kelsey Dower’s music invites listeners into a world where orchestral majesty meets human vulnerability. Every note, every swell, and every lyric is crafted to translate complex emotion into sound, offering catharsis, reflection, and inspiration. Her journey is one of transformation—of personal growth, of artistic evolution, and of creating music that is as epic as it is profoundly human. Rebirth and singles like “Rage” and “Ma’afa” establish her as a visionary artist whose work resonates on both a grand and deeply personal scale, marking her as one of the most compelling voices in symphonic metal today.
