Notably, Creature Creature’s affinity for cinema permeates their work, with tracks like “Video Nasty” and “No Time To Die”. Lauded for their captivating live performances, they are poised for a resurgence, their narrative marked by perseverance, innovation and a compelling fusion of music with undying resolve.
In early 2020, Brighton’s alt-rock/punk band Creature Creature was primed for success. With their debut album Two Finger Tantrum ready, the band, comprising Scully (lyrics/vocals), Zeus (guitar), Seb Cole (keyboard/keytar/backing vocals), Dave Cobley (bass), and Matt Hill (drums), was set for extensive touring and publicity. However, the COVID pandemic brought their momentum to an abrupt halt, leading to a string of show cancellations and a lukewarm reception for their album in a world overshadowed by the pandemic.
Undeterred, Creature Creature saw this period as an opportunity for introspection and strategic planning. They emerged more resilient, ready for a comeback with their new EP, symbolizing their journey of persistence and renewal. Their music, inspired by the likes of Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Royal Blood, IDLES, and Dinosaur Pile-Up, showcases a diverse blend of rock and punk, evident in singles like “Video Nasty,” “Mean Streets (Reprise),” and “Broken Windows.”
Praised by Rocklifestyle Magazine as ready to become rockstars and dubbed “the new flag bearers of rock” by The Brighton Magazine, Creature Creature has earned critical acclaim for their depth and dynamism. Their live performances, irrespective of audience size, are known for their energy and authenticity.
In summer 2022, a pivotal collaboration with Billy Lunn from The Subways marked a turning point for the band. ‘The Noise EP’, born from this collaboration and produced by Feeder’s Tommy Gleeson is a testament to their hard-fought journey. Now, Creature Creature is not just making a comeback; they’re determined to redefine the rock landscape they once thought had turned its back on them.
Explore Creature Creature’s journey and music through their website and social media, where their resilience, authenticity, and dynamic energy continue to captivate and inspire.
As 2020 dawned, Brighton-based alt-rock/alt-punk band Creature Creature was riding a wave of momentum. Fresh from recording their first full-length album, they were poised for a year of extensive touring and a major publicity push. A group of dedicated musicians – Scully as the lyricist/frontman, Zeus on guitar, Seb Cole handling keyboard/keytar/backing vocals, Dave Cobley on bass, and Matt Hill on drums – the band was ready to show the world what they were made of, both on the charts and on the road.
You already know what happens next: enter COVID. And with that, the band’s ascending trajectory was abruptly halted. The ensuing months saw a cascade of cancellations and disappointments: live shows were axed, the publicity machine ground to a halt, and the much-anticipated release of their debut album, Two Finger Tantrum, was mired in uncertainty, eventually finding a modest reception in a landscape reshaped by the global pandemic.
In the shadow of these setbacks, Creature Creature refused to succumb to disillusionment. Instead, they embraced this period as a time for deep introspection and strategic planning. This challenging phase became a crucible for growth, out of which emerged a revitalized and more resilient band. Now, with their new EP on the horizon, Creature Creature is poised for a monumental comeback, armed with hard-earned lessons and a renewed fervor.
Their music, a dynamic blend of rock and punk, draws inspiration from a diverse array of artists including Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Royal Blood, IDLES, and Dinosaur Pile-Up. Creature Creature’s sound is not confined to a single genre; it’s an exploration of musical diversity, reflecting the individual influences of each band member – from old-school rock to modern beats. This eclectic mix is evident in their discography, which includes the impactful singles “Video Nasty,” “Mean Streets (Reprise),” and “Broken Windows,” as well as the deeply personal and reflective “Saturday Night Slaughter,” a track inspired by the legacy of Robert Miles.
Their journey, marked by its highs and lows, has been observed and celebrated by the music press. Rocklifestyle Magazine recognized the band’s inherent star quality, giving a perfect score and proclaiming, “Creature Creature are ready to take the journey into becoming rockstars in their own right…10/10.” This sentiment The Brighton Magazine took this sentiment a step further, going as far as naming Creature Creature “the new flag bearers of rock,” a title that speaks to the band’s undeniable presence and in their iron resolve in setting a new standard for what rock can be.
Creature Creature’s depth and complexity have been lauded by critics like Andy Joice from Punktastic, who noted, “There’s so much depth, you’ll be finding new points of interest on every listen. Creature Creature are destined for big things. Unleash this monster as soon as you can.” This depth is not just in their music but in their journey as a band.
Their live performances are a spectacle of energy and connection, embodying the band’s philosophy of authenticity and dynamism. Whether playing to a crowd of 60 or 6000, Creature Creature ensures every performance is an unforgettable experience, full of passion and intensity.
One could point to the group remaining grounded in their core values – resilience, authenticity, and a relentless pursuit of musical excellence – as the reason they lived to fight another day. A pivotal moment came in the summer of 2022 when Billy Lunn from The Subways took the band under his wing to record the EP. This collaboration marked a turning point, heralding a period of rebuilding and refocusing for the band. Produced by Tommy Gleeson of Feeder fame, “The Noise EP” emerged from these trials as a symbol of their journey – a hard-fought victory against the odds. It’s a compelling narrative of a band that refused to be silenced by external factors, instead using their experiences as fuel for their creative fire.
As they prepare for this new chapter, Creature Creature has emerged stronger, more focused, and ready to reclaim their place in the music world. They’re a band transformed, embodying the spirit of resistance, whether it’s from the industry shills or all that life deals. With their past experiences fueling their present ambitions, Creature Creature is not just back; they’re here to leave an indelible mark on the music landscape that turned its back on them.

“After the pandemic annihilated our first ever tour which should have followed the release of our debut album ‘Two Finger Tantrum’ back in 2020, the damage caused took a while to recover from. We are finally in a position to release these songs in the form of ‘The Noise’ EP, and hit the road to show just how passionate we are in their live delivery.”
