AloneKitty is the creation of Toronto-based artist Michelle K, heavily influenced by the likes of Sonic Youth, Slowdive, HUM, Mogwai, Ivy and My Bloody Valentine, as well as bands from Creation Records’ heyday.
‘Toronto-based shoegaze band AloneKitty, led by Michelle K, channels personal struggles and sonic influences from icons like Sonic Youth and Slowdive into their powerful, distortion-heavy debut album.’ – Rebel Noise
“My sound is really rooted in the love of the above-mentioned bands that were a huge part of my development as a writer and how I think about music. A wall of sound that sandblasts away your thoughts and places you in a unique state of bliss is what shoegaze is all about for me. The lyrics are a reflection of my struggles with relationships, work and transition over the last few years. At a show someone described us as SWANS with hooks which was great!”
