// ABOUT THE ARTIST

Headline: Growing up for the most part of her life on the west side of Canada, Geraldine originally hails from the small Metis settlement Cumberland House, Saskatchewan. Amongst her many talents, she considers herself to be an artist, she writes, sings, dances, paints, and does photography.

Geraldine has devoted her life to empowering others through her walk. Her priority is to establish a creative process to help others find their authentic self and belonging through healing work and self-discovery. She believes strongly that each of us is here to have a human experience and learn our lessons. And that essentially we are nothing and everything all at once.

On the career front she has worn many masks, working as a Human Resources Officer for the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority. Then returning to the University of Saskatchewan to pursue a Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Sociology and a minor in Entrepreneurship. She then enrolled in an Indian Communication & Arts program through the First Nations University Of Canada; found her niche then pursued a career in journalism working with CBC.

Previously she worked as a Consultant for the Canadian Native Friendship Centre as a Consultant on the Urban Aboriginal Strategy helping to move forward action planning for the province. Geraldine’s greatest achievements working with the centre have been her ability to development the “Warrior Within” youth leadership camp and “Wild Woman” self-confidence workshop. Between her many roles at the centre she will also be hosting the “Finding My Tribe” Television Show on Shaw Cable in the fall. More recently she has accepted the opportunity work with the Aboriginal Woman’s Professional Association developing essential skills programming for inner city woman and their families. She is the CEO of a talent agency in Saskatchewan called “Wanska Talent” which is devoted to empowering and creating showcasing opportunities for Aboriginal Artists.

Geraldine can add Author to her list of accomplishments as she is being published in this year First Lady Nation Book, which is published out of the United States. The book is one that shares short stories from Indigenous women from around the globe. Her Chapter “Wild Woman” has been selected as the first in the book. She also is working on her music debut LP Ger Carriere, which will be released in 2017.

Geraldine has been confirmed to be on the REDx talking series happening in the spring of 2017. As well as performing at the Alberta Aboriginal Role Model Awards on September 2016.
