Ampwall Music Platform Beta Launch Underway; Sign Ups Surpass Initial Expectations
Musician-founded online music platform Ampwall recently launched for beta sign-ups and has surpassed the initial goals set by its founders.
The musician-founded online music platform, Ampwall, recently launched for beta sign-ups and has already surpassed the initial goals set by its founders. The Public Benefit Company is an online marketplace and community platform for musicians and the community that exists around them. With lower fees than Bandcamp, Ampwall is positioning itself as a credible alternative to existing music marketplace and discovery options.
Founded in 2023 by black metal musician and software engineer Chris Grigg, he and his team worked closely with a small batch of alpha testers before beginning their public beta test in September 2024. Community is at the heart of Ampwall’s mission, with the aim to support artists outside of existing algorithm-based or big tech-controlled platforms. Beyond the sales tools available to artists, Ampwall has a focus on sharing, communication and sustainable practices that will support creativity within music and beyond.
Grigg comments:
“Ampwall is my life’s work. It brings together my lifetime of writing, recording, and performing with my professional life as a software engineer working for startups. We’re the first true competitor to Bandcamp in their 15+ year history and we’ve already improved the lives and experiences of real bands throughout the world.”
Ampwall is currently encouraging sign-ups from both creators and fans; it is free for fans to join and there is an initial cost of 10 dollars per year for artists to upload their music to the platform. Within six weeks, Ampwall has leapt from 100 to 1,500 users and boasts artists on every continent except Antarctica. Support for label accounts is due to roll out in 2025.
